Michael D. Witter is carrying on the tradition of philanthropy of his father and grandfather. An important part of the Witter Family philosophy is to continue the task focused in the areas of Dean Witter’s legacy. Like his grandfather, Michael is a vigilant wildlife conservationist and is tireless in his efforts to raise awareness through protecting habitat and preservation of wetlands and endangered species.

Michael D. Witter is especially devoted to military causes with a focus on military history, veteran rehabilitation and the fostering of relations between allied forces. Michael also supports educational foundations, which provide both undergraduate and continuing education scholarships. Along with his wife, Sherry P. Witter, who manages the investments and the operations of the Witter Family Offices, Michael and Sherry have formed and funded family foundations to support their priority causes in addition to the needs of the existing nonprofit organizations.
